The Hangover (2009)

By admin | June 26, 2010

Movie: The Hangover (2009)

“Angelenos Doug Billings and Tracy Garner are about to get married. Two days before the wedding, the four men in the wedding party – Doug, Doug’s two best buddies Phil Wenneck and Stu Price, and Tracy’s brother Alan Garner – hop into Tracy’s father’s beloved Mercedes convertible for a 24-hour stag party to Las Vegas. Phil, a married high school teacher, has the same maturity level as his students when he’s with his pals. Stu, a dentist, is worried about everything, especially what his controlling girlfriend Melissa thinks. Because she disapproves of traditional male bonding rituals, Stu has to lie to her about the stag, he telling her that they are going on a wine tasting tour in the Napa Valley. Regardless, he intends on eventually marrying her, against the advice and wishes of his friends. And Alan seems to be unaware of what are considered the social graces of the western world. The morning after their arrival in Las Vegas, they awaken in their hotel suite each with the worst hangover. None remembers what happened in the past twelve or so hours. The suite is in shambles. And certain things are in the suite that shouldn’t be, and certain things that should be in the suite are missing. Probably the most important in the latter category is Doug. As Phil, Stu and Alan try to find Doug using only what little pieces of information they have at hand, they go on a journey of discovery of how certain things got into the suite and what happened to the missing items. However they are on a race for time as if they can’t find Doug in the next few hours, they are going to have to explain to Tracy why they are not yet back in Los Angeles. And even worse, they may not find Doug at all before the wedding. Written by Huggo”

Tagline: Some guys just can't handle Vegas See »

Trivia: At one point, Officer Franklin (Rob Riggle) refers to Alan as “Fat Jesus.” This is a reference to a Zach Galifianakis joke from his "Comedy Central Presents" (1998), in which he claims, “I look like Fat Jesus…not Phat Jesus.”

Goofs: Continuity: During the scene after a nude Mr. Chow attacks Phil, Stu, and Alan, the driver side door is wide open, but it had nearly fully closed after Phil first exited the car.

A New Jersey driver would recognize the minivan with the blue throw light Paul and Jimmy were driving as a volunteer responding to a call, not a police vehicle.

Two Lovers (2008)

By admin | June 25, 2010

Movie: Two Lovers (2008)

“Leonard Kraditor is a burned-out case, living with his immigrant parents after his fianc?e left him, helping out at their Brooklyn dry cleaners, taking photographs, at loose ends, suicidal. In quick succession, he meets two women: Sarah, the daughter of his parents’ business associates, frank, direct, sensual, Jewish like Leonard; and, his neighbor Michelle, mercurial, rootless, fun, blond, unattainable. Michelle is in love with a married man and cries on Leonard’s shoulder; Sarah wants to save him. Is Leonard willing to risk losing Sarah’s fidelity for the moments Michelle’s moods swing toward him? Can this end well? Written by <jhailey@hotmail.com>”

Tagline: Sometimes we leave everything to find ourselves.

Trivia: The movie is set around Brighton Beach and features Gwyneth Paltrow whose mother Blythe Danner starred in the movie Brighton Beach Memoirs (1986).
See  »

Goofs: Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Leonard goes with Michelle from Brighton to Midtown they take the Q train. As they arrive at 57th street in Manhattan, Michelle lets Leonard know that it is her stop and that she has to get off. Leonard says, he’ll get off there too and just walk a bit so he can accompany her. The goof here is that Leonard doesn’t have the option of continuing on the train. 57th street is the last stop on the Q, it just goes back to Brooklyn after that stop. Leonard would have to get off, it wasn’t just something he did to accompany Michelle.
