“This is the story of the last few years of the notorious bank robber John Dillinger. He loved what he did and could imagine little else that would make him happier. Living openly in 1930s Chicago, he had the run of the city with little fear of reprisals from the authorities. It’s there that he meets Billie Frechette with whom he falls deeply in love. In parallel we meet Melvin Purvis, the FBI agent who would eventually track Dillinger down. The FBI was is in its early days and Director J. Edgar Hoover was keen to promote the clean cut image that so dominated the organization through his lifetime. Purvis realizes that if he is going to get Dillinger, he will have to use street tactics and imports appropriate men with police training. Dillinger is eventually betrayed by an acquaintance who tells the authorities just where to find him on a given night. Written by garykmcd”

Goofs: Factual errors: Dillinger gang member John Hamilton, referred to as “Three Finger Jack” by the authorities, was missing two fingers on his right hand, and then lost yet a third finger of the same hand during the East Chicago bank job in January of ’34. CGI wasn’t employed for this detail in the film. Thus, the actor playing Hamilton has all of his digits.

“Kate and John Coleman are rebuilding their troubled marriage. Kate had a drinking problem, but is in therapy and is doing well. She has been sober for one year. The couple decides to adopt a child. When they meet the nine-year-old Estonian girl, Esther, at the St. Marina Orphanage, they immediately fall in love with the well-educated orphan. Their young son, Daniel, is hostile to his new sister; but their deaf-mute daughter, little Max, is enchanted with her – at first. Eventually, Kate begins to feel that Esther is manipulative and possibly even psychologically disturbed. John refuses to listen to his wife’s misgivings, and the wounds in their marriage reopen. Kate calls Sister Abigail at the orphanage, and the nun informs her that Esther has a troubled and mysterious history. Goofs: Continuity: When Hunt and Janet pay a visit to Nick and Lori to discuss about the possibility to exist a chain of deaths or a specific order, Janet leaves and Hunt follows her. Immediately after he gets up the couch, his shirt allows some belt to be visible in his back. He turns around to say something, and when he leaves, his shirt is actually OK.

“While babysitting a boy and his baby brother, Casey Beldon has a dreadful nightmare involving a weird dog and an evil child, and she tells her best friend Romy over the phone. Casey is haunted by this boy, and when she goes to the ophthalmologist, he asks if she has a twin brother or sister. She asks her father and discovers that her mother lost a son that died in the womb. Casey suspects that she is haunted by the spirit of her brother. She finds a letter addressed to a woman called Sofi Kozma and a creepy picture at home that belonged to her mother. She goes with Romy to a retirement home to meet Sofi, a survivor of the experiments during the Holocaust. Trivia: The doctor that Sofia is talking about as she recounts her time in Auschwitz is the infamous Dr. Josef Mengele. He was notorious for selecting those that came off the cattle carts for those who lived or were sent to the gas chambers. He was particularly interested in experimenting with people, whether it be freezing people in sub-zero water or changing the color of the iris of eyes. He also had a deep interest in twins and would do organ switching, blood transfusions or sewing twins together.

Goofs: Revealing mistakes: When Casey is surprised by the “visitor” in her medicine cabinet and is on the floor, she leans against the door and the toilet behind her shifts indicating that it is a prop toilet, not bolted down as it should be.

Goofs: Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When Wikus is first admitted to hospital and is having his arm checked, it is quite clear that he has a hairy chest under his vest. Afterwards, he is seen with his shirt off and is hairless. Because the surgeons are planning on opening his chest to remove his heart, it is likely that his chest was shaved in preparation for the procedure. Another reason may be, due to the changes his body is undertaking (fingernails falling off, etc.), his hair may have fallen out.

Trivia: When Paramount Pictures first developed this as a project for the director/star team of David Fincher and Brad Pitt, Mark Wahlberg was wanted for the opposite leading role (as this is a Boston-set story). However, Fincher and Pitt moved on to other commitments. Paramount almost signed on the star duo of Pitt and Wahlberg for another Boston-set drama, The Fighter (2010), a couple years later. Pitt eventually had to drop out of that project, as well.
